The Palm Springs Valley offers a surprising array of horse friendly areas. From specific, gated communities, to the more rural Eastern side of the Valley with it’s equestrian training facilities, horse lay ups, two International Polo Clubs and the HITS horseshow.
Palm Springs Equestrian Homes
The Western side of the Palm Springs Valley offers you Smoketree Stables in the gated, very exclusive community of Smoke Tree Ranch in Palm Springs.
- Smoke Tree Ranch: Has a ton of history behind it’s hallowed gates, guest homes and 93 custom estates sprawling over approx. 300 acres. Residents own shares of the Smoke Tree Ranch and also have the opportunity to stable or simply ride the horses at the Smoke Tree Stable.
Rancho Mirage Equestrian Homes
Equestrian Property in Rancho Mirage is mostly limited to the tree-lined street of Clancy Lane., conveniently located right off of Bob Hope Dr. Clancy Lane has several gated communities along both sides and residents may board their horses at Clancy Lane Riding Stables.
- Clancy Lane: This community offers large, custom estate homes on variously zoned lots. Many are zoned for horses.
- Mission Ranch: This gated community is located off of Clancy Lane. Homeowners may keep horses on their property as well as stable at the adjacent Clancy Lane Riding Stables. Home Values range from approx. $900,000 – $2.5mil.
Palm Desert Equestrian Homes
Palm Desert is centrally located in the Palm Springs Valley, so one might think there isn’t room for equestrian property. Wrong!
- Cahuilla Hills: The entry to Cahuilla Hills is directly across Hwy 74 from Bighorn Golf Club. Not easy to see, but once you turn onto the dirt road, you are in for a treat! Equestrian parcels range in size from 2 acres to approx. 10 acres. Several of these estate homes have barns and riding rings on them and the surround area offers miles of riding. Home prices range from approx. $700,000 – $3 mil.
Bermuda Dunes Equestrian Homes
Bermuda Dunes is a non-incorporated area of our valley just South of Interstate 10, and adjacent to Palm Desert. A very unique place to call home and indeed has areas that welcome horses.
- Bermuda Dunes, not in a development: This area of Bermuda Dunes is zoned Equestrian and offers old, new and custom homes on parcels ranging from 1 acre to approx. 5 acres. There are some 1 and 2 acre homes North of Interstate 10, priced at approx. $250,000, and there are also some beautiful custom estates located on Yucca Ln. between Ave. 41 & 42. Prices in this area are approx. $350,000 – $1.2mil.
La Quinta Equestrian Homes
Beautiful La Quinta with it’s stellar mountain views has limited equestrian opportunities, but there are a few… La Quinta offers many small ranches on lots ranging from approx. 1.5 acres to approx. 5 acres and they too allow horses. They don’t come up very often, and sell quickly when they do.
- La Quinta Polo Estates: The entry gate to the La Quinta Polo Estates is directly across from The famed Eldorado Polo Club. Lots are approx. 2 acres and this gated community offers luxury, custom estates..many with barns. Zoned for 2 horses/acre, prices range from approx. $800,000 – $3.5mil. Vacant land is also available for approx. $350,000/2 acres.
Indio Equestrian Homes
Indio is in the more Easterly side of the Palm Springs Valley. Home of many date ranches, the City offers a wide array of equestrian opportunities. Private homes sitting on 3 acres to approx. 100 acres are not unusual. Indio is home to both the Eldorado Polo Club and also the Empire Polo Club.
Vista Santa Rosa & Thermal Equestrian Homes
The unincorporated approx. 20 mile area of Vista Santa Rosa (VSR) borders La Quinta to the West, Indio to the North and Thermal to the East. Gentlemen’s Ranches and Equestrian Estates run throughout the area of VSR.
- Deer Creek Equestrian Center, VSR: This gated, equestrian training facility is so unique and special that is has quite literally made a name for VSR. Two polo fields, a galloping track and 5 and 10 acre parcels with and without houses are oriented around the fields. Each owner pays $750/mo. HOA fees for interior road maintenance, field and track maintenance + water, and with the ownership comes 2 playing tickets to the Deer Creek Polo facilities. Prices range from approx. $500,000 – $1.5 mil.
